Tasmania bed and breakfast accommodation on a wild island

Tasmania bed and breakfast visitors enjoy visiting this spectacular, wild island, which is situated 149 miles south of Melbourne across the Bass Strait, Tasmania is Australia's smallest and most southerly state. It is roughly heart-shaped and is184 miles long. About forty percent of Tasmania is protected in 20 national parks and other reserves, over half of the area being the World Heritage-listed temperate wilderness in the west of the state.

King Island is located halfway between Victoria and the northwest of Tasmania in Bass Strait. This rich and fertile island is famous for its beef and dairy products. It is regularly serviced by air carriersand is a favorite destination with many a King Island, Tasmania B&B, lodge and innavailable to adventurous tourists or people there on business. To the northeast of Tasmania, also in the Bass Strait, is Flinders Island, which is also popular with visitors. It is known for its excellent coastal fishing opportunities and beautiful beaches. Bruny Island, south of Hobart, has pristine beaches and abundant marine wildlife.

Tasmania’s capital is Hobart, which is Australia’s second-oldest city after Sydney Hobart is situated on the south side of the island and it has a plethora of bed and breakfast establishments. Hobart's busy harbor is vital to trade and Sullivan’s Cove contains shops and eateries. Launceston, Tasmania’s second-largest city is located on the northern coast of the island and has a distinct colonial Georgian/Edwardian flavor. It is the gateway to the natural beauty spots of the island, including the Cataract Gorge and the Launceston Lake Wildlife Sanctuary. City Park is famous for its Botanical Conservatory andMonkey Island featuring Japanese macaque monkeys. The Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery at Inveresk features authentic Tasmanian and Aboriginal art.

Tasmania’s natural heritage attracts increasing numbers of adventurous tourists, most of whom plan their Tasmania vacations around bed and breakfast stays. In the rugged interior of Tasmania are to be found some of Australia's wildest mountains, forests and rivers. This type of wilderness can be compared with the wilderness areas of New Zealand and Patagonia. Other visitors the colonial heritage is of interest, as well as the common pleasures of resting in one of the world's more quiet and welcoming places. There are, of course, many B&B, lodge and inn stays available to visitors to Tasmania. Although the winters are wet, the hot summers make up for it. Most bed and breakfast visitors spend the long summer days lying on beaches of the cleanest sand beside the gorgeous turquoise sea.
