Amsterdam, Noord-Holland bed and breakfast accommodation on the canals

Amsterdam, Noord-Holland bed and breakfast visitors are often families from the US and elsewhere in the world for the simple reason that Amsterdam is a wonderful way to introduce children to the joys of travel. Staying an Amsterdam, Noord-Holland B&B, lodge or inn is an affordable way for even quite large families to enjoy this amazingly hip and diverse city. So when you have enjoyed your breakfast at the bed and breakfast, what is there for you to do in Amsterdam? The answer is: plenty, and the good news is that Amsterdam is flat and compact so you can walk or cycle and see most of what it has to offer. Firstly there are the canals. It is unlikely that any Amsterdam, Noord-Holland bed andbreakfast guests will have seen a city with so many canals. Only Venice in Italy is comparable, and that is not an apt comparison because the canals of Venice are for show while Amsterdam’s 165 canals are living, working, breathing canals. Obviously B&B visitors enjoy walking alongside the canals along the ancient 17th cobbled streets, but they can also go on barge or boat trips down the waterways. Then there is the ubiquity of bicycles in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, with bed and breakfasts, lodges and inns even hiring these out to B&B visitors. It’s a wonderful feeling to cycle in a city where so many other people are also on bicycles.  Families can cycle to the Rijksmuseum or one of the many extraordinarily fine museums and art gallery, cycle through de Wallen (the red-light district) and stop at one of the many restaurants offering cuisine from across the world for a meal.

There is also a strong industrial side to Amsterdam, Noord-Holland (remember the Amsterdam was a leading trade center for many centuries and still retains many vital industries, including shipping) so many bed and breakfast visitors are business people. But any B&B, lodge and inn visitor in Amsterdam-Noord Holland would be soulless indeed if he or she did not take the time to visit one of the city’s great attractions such as Anne Frank’s house, the Van Gogh Museum, the Netherlands Maritime Museum, the Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art or the Royal Palace. The layout of the city means that most of these attractions are in easy reach of any bed and breakfast, lodge or inn. One of the most charming places to visit is the Museum Het Rembrandthuis, the 17th century house where the artist lived for nearly 20 years. Beside the house is a museum wing to make more space for the vast collection of his work.
